How to jailbreak your iPad2 which is on iOS 5.0.1

If you want to jailbreak your iPad 2 which is on iOS 5.0.1 (9A405), please follow series of steps below:

1. Make sure that your iPad has the iOS 5.0.1 version by going to Settings on your iPad and then choose General and check the version. It should display 5.0.1 (9A405).

2. Connect your iPad to your computer.

3. Backup your iPad.
The iTunes application will open automatically and your iPad device gets detected. On the left pane of iTunes, go to DEVICES and highlight the name of your iPad. Scroll below to the Backup section to select which option you want in backing up the device. You can choose to backup your iPad to your computer or to iCloud. Either way is fine. It will also display the last date and time your device has been backed up.

5. Once download has been completed successfully, open the file and unzip it to where you want to save it.

6. Go to the folder where you saved it and run Absinthe.exe

7. Hit the Jailbreak button.

It will then display 6 messages as shown below:

Sending initial data. Your device will appear to be restoring a backup, this may also take a while....

Waiting for reboot - not done yet, don't unplug your device yet!

Waiting for device to finish booting...

Preparing jailbreak data...

Sending payload data, this may take a while....(Do not touch your device yet!)

Almost done - just unlock the screen if necessary, then tap the "Jailbreak" icon to finish.

8. On your iPad, locate the Absinthe app and click it. It will then run and install Cydia with message being displayed: Preparing filesystem....

9. Wait for it to finish installing everything.

10. The Cydia app will now appear which means you now have a jailbroken iPad.

11. Install Installous app to completely enjoy it.

12. Should anything go wrong, you can always restore your iPad to the last backup prior to jailbreaking it.
